I have been a horse enthusiast all my life. I started riding at the age of six and have been a successful competitor in 3 Day Eventing, Dressage, Hunters & Jumpers and have won countless awards and year-end recognitions.
Some of my recent accomplishments are: USEA Area 5 Reserve Champion Preliminary Rider in 2009 and 2010; 3rd place rider in 2008, and 2011. I was the Area V Adult Rider Champion in 2008-2011. I am also a member of the United States Eventing Association’s Silver Medal Club, Bronze Medal Club, and Blue Ribbon Club, and have been awarded Gold Medals at the preliminary level in 2009, 2010, and 2011. I was the past President of Greater Houston Combined Training Association, and served on the Board of Governors for the United States Eventing Association and the Area 5 council for 6 years. When I’m not riding or teaching, I am a course designer, show organizer, secretary, and judge for local schooling shows, as well as a clinic organizer for some of the top riders in the sport.
My passion is 3 Day Eventing and I feel that combining dressage, show jumping, and cross-country creates the most demanding and exciting of all horse sports. I have spent years developing my skills as both a rider, and coach, and have trained under the following well known athletes: Bruce & Buck Davidson, Karen and David O'Connor, Boyd Martin, Jim Graham, Phillip Dutton, Lucinda Green, John Williams, Blyth Tait, Kerry Milliken, and Lurena Bell.
My riding and teaching styles are focused on safety, accuracy, and fun. I strongly believe that they are the most important aspects of successful riding. I am based in the Magnolia/Woodlands area and I’m currently accepting students and horses of all levels and disciplines.
Excel, aka Elliott, is a bay, 18 year old Thoroughbred gelding. I purchased him as a 4 year old, just off the track. He has competed successfully through the Intermediate level. Due to an unfortunate tendon injury he will be competing at the Preliminary level for the foreseeable future. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 he earned the title of the USEA Area V Preliminary Horse of the Year, and was awarded the Walter Strauss Perpetual Trophy as well as the Clover’s Eclipse Perpetual Trophy. In 2011 He was the 3rd place Area 5 horse and won the Clover’s Eclipse Perpetual Trophy. Elliott is going to take it easy in 2012, and enjoy his semi-retirement!
Willie is a dark bay, 13 year old Quarter Horse gelding. Willie teaches everyone from Beginners to Training level Eventing, Dressage and Jumpers. He is extremely honest, consistent, and always puts a smile on his riders face!
Work Ethic, aka Finn, is a 3 year old TB that has just retired from the race track. He is owned by Jane and Steve McKetta. He is just starting his re-training and he looks forward to becoming a top eventer.
